Belgrad Forest once again hosts night runs this year. The first of the Belgrad Forest Night Runs, which has been held regularly since 2017, will take place on Saturday, April 9th. The night runs, which are held at two different times of the year and become traditional, appeal to every age. In the event, which is run in two categories as women and men, two different tracks, 6k and 12k, are waiting for the runners. The last day to register for the race is April 8th. Race Program and the Track
The route of the runs in the Belgrad Forest, one of the most beautiful oxygen sources of the city in the heart of Istanbul, passes through the Neset Suyu running track. If you come here before the race, you can enjoy the various hiking trails in the forest. The race program starts at 06.00 pm with activities and entertainment in the area. You can have some fun here before the run and therefore you can start the run more relaxed. After the race kits and chips are delivered, there is a 20-minute warm-up session. 12k race starts at 09.00 pm and 6k race starts at 09.15 pm. 6k race is completed in one lap and in one hour while 12k race consists of two laps and two hours. The track consists of a dirt road and a stable forest road.
The race is a good option for people with regular running routines to try themselves and it also offers a different experience to those who will run for the first time. Running, which is suitable and comfortable for participants of all levels, is a sports activity that you will enjoy in the depths of the beautiful nature of the Belgrad Forest.
Prizes
All runners participating in the Belgrad Forest Night Run are given a participation medal. Trophies and sponsor gifts, if any, are presented to those who are ranked in the highest. There is also a Paralympic category for the prizes. All runners with disabilities competing in the night runs are awarded with a special podium medal.
Warnings and Suggestions
The materials that the athletes should have with them during the race are checked by the officials during the control. Do not forget to take materials such as headlamp, whistle, two back-up batteries, mask with you. Make sure that the headlamp is working and check whether it provides sufficient vision. Besides, your mobile phone must be with you throughout the race and must be always turned on.
It’s not deemed healthy for those who have heart disease and respiratory tract problems to participate in the race. In case of any problem that may occur during the race, participants will be guided to leave the race and receive medical support. You must avoid compelling factors for the health and safety conditions.
Don’t be fooled by the spring weather in April. It may be beneficial to be prepared against the possibility of rain. You can take a light, foldable raincoat with you. A backpack or waist bag that are not much heavy and a multi-purpose buff and a water bottle holder will also make your job easier. It’s very normal that you may need to change your clothes after the race. The extra clothes you bring with you are protected by the organization and returned to you at the finish point. Using sports shoes with socks is essential for a healthier and more comfortable run.
