Program and race course
Last-day registrations will continue on May 27, before the races. On May 28, races will be held in MTB, Swimming and Running disciplines, respectively. You can choose any of them or you can compete in the two categories and combined categories. Ultimate Cunda has six categories in total: MTB, Swimming, Running, Swimming+Running, Running+MTB, Combined (S+B+R).
The event starts with the MTB race at 09.00 am on Saturday. Consisting of 12 kilometres, MTB takes place on the same track with running. In the race where the time limit is 90 minutes, a mountain bike with front shocks will be suitable for the tough track. Wearing a helmet is, of course, mandatory. You should also use pedals with locks, padded tights and gloves.
The swimming race starts at 01.00 pm. Those who choose the combined category, switch to swimming after cycling if they complete the race within the determined limit. The swimming track is 2 kilometres. The sea with sandy ground is shallow between 2-10 meters. The water temperature is around 22°C. In this track, you can use any wetsuit and swimsuit you want. There are two time control points in the area open to the public. You have to pass the first point in 30 minutes and the second point in 45 minutes. Those who exceed this time in the track, which must be completed in 75 minutes at most, are disqualified.
The running race will start at 05.30 pm. It should be noted that a very challenging track awaits the runners. The race, which will be run for 12 km on the same track with the bike, has a sloping terrain. There also long steep ascents and descents. The ground is generally stony and earthy, with a hard structure. On the track, where the time limit is 90 minutes, there are two water points, as well as a cooldown point. The track is suitable for all kinds of running shoes. If you will participate in the running race, it may be a good idea to be prepared for any kind of weather conditions. Besides, let’s not ignore the ‘’sun’’ factor. Sunglasses and a hat are a must. You should also take a high-protection sunscreen with you. Applying sunscreen before the race is the best precaution for any unpleasant burns you may have.
The event officially ends with the award ceremony to be held after the races. It’s a great idea to stay for the after party event on the night of the same day and to get discharged after an exhausting and challenging day.
Events as part of Ultimate Cunda do not end there. On Sunday, May 29, at 08.30 am in the morning, participants can join the yoga event and relieve their tiredness in a different way and enjoy this beautiful activity to start the new week a little more calmly.
For a weekend full of sports at the magnificent atmosphere of Cunda Island, you can easily book your room among the Cunda hotels that will meet your accommodation needs.
Categories
At Ultimate Cunda, age classification consists of 4 groups and each group is divided into men and women. The race is open to all individuals who are at least 18 years old. A memorial medal is given to everyone who completes the race course, regardless of the branch. In the races categorized as A, B and C, the podium medals are presented to the athletes who take the podium. Category A, standing for participation in a single branch, is for those who choose at least one of the disciplines among swimming, running or MTB.
Category B stands for two branches. The results of those who choose from the two categories are taken separately and are not subjected to a “dual” evaluation. Awards are also given separately.
Category C covers the combined participation. It includes all MTB + Swimming + Running tracks. In order to be included in the ranking, there is an obligation to finish each branch within the time limit. The finishing times of all three disciplines are taken separately and added together to form the general classification standing. In case of the equal result, the date of birth is taken into account and in this case the older one is in an advantageous position. Trophies are given to the top 3 athletes in the general classification for women and men categories. In races held in multiple branches, it’s aimed that the participants be active all day long. You can find facilities such as changing room, cloakroom, parking lot, WC and health care services in the race area.
